Two volumes. Half title pages have the title as CHINA, ITS SCENERY, ARCHITECTURE, SOCIAL HABITS, &C, ILLUSTRATED. The first volume has 106 pages, the second has 76. The first volume lists 69 plates but only 66 are present. The second volume lists 63 plates and all are present. Small folios, half bound in dark green leather with gilt lettering and design on the spines, raised bands on the spines, marbled edges and endpapers. Volume I has a two inch tear to the leather at the crown of the spine and the binding is starting to separate at page 93, both volumes have occasional foxing and moderate shelf wear and aging, Volume II is lightly damp stained at the lower corner of the text block, affecting seven of the plates, else both volumes are in good condition.
